1. Introduction:
Lithopone is a white powder, non-toxic, odorless, insoluble in water, no reaction with H2S and lye, release H2S gas when reacting with strong acids. It is composed of a mixture of BaSo4 and ZnS with trace amounts of ZnO2. It is produced by precipitation through filtering, heating and quenching works.
Lithopone now has mostly been replaced by Titanium Dioxide which is more durable, but lithopone is much cheaper than Titanium Dioxide.
